Guidelines. On how to edit shit properly. Similar to Wikipedia's best practices or whatever that's called.

  • In almost all cases you should capitalize the page link when creating new articles! Auto-capitalization has been turned off to accommodate special cases that should be lowercase, such as /b/lockade. Other than these, please continue to capitalize in the usual manner for wikis.
  • Don't create redirects for every capitalization, spelling and plural variation of a word. Use the vertical pipe: | Example: [[Nigra|nigras]] produces nigras which is the same functional result as adding a new redirect but doesn't require extra pages. There are times multiple redirects will be added for a common term but this should usually be left to moderators and admins.
  • Make a link out of only the first occurrence of a word in an article. Do not make a link out of every occurrence!
  • Use categories and subcategories. You can see a listing here: Special:Categories. Use subcategories when possible, but if in doubt place it in a top category and it can be moved into a subcategory later if needed.
  • Upload files in PNG format when possible, or GIF when transparency or animation is required. Large areas of single colors such as Habbo screenshots or CG drawings will compress very well in PNG format. Photographs, pencil sketches and other images with high levels of detail and color variations are best in JPEG.
  • With the exception of redirects, any new article created should be referenced in the Glossary. Place it alphabetically in the list.
  • In regards to Habbo room names: Habbo will choose a couple rooms to rename and whore out to sponsors who give them jewgolds or change part of the name in light of a holiday. Examples: Xmas Theaterdome (normally Theatredome), Teen Terrace (normally Sun Terrace). When this occurs, do not add a new article for the renamed room, though you may create a redirect to the original article.
  • Public rooms among different Habbo servers are similar but can have different names, NPCs, demographics and sometimes even functional differences. Therefore the rooms will have an article for each server it exists on. This is to ensure thorough documentation and avoid confusion among the varying names and placements in the menus.
  • Any private rooms should be categorized into the appropriate hotel category (example: a private room on habbo.ca would go in the Habbo Canada category).
